* Project NEXUS: NEXUS is a high altitude spying equipment. It is designed to transmit high resolution photography in with real-time communications from a designed altitude of 30km, where meteorological apparatus generally functions at. NEXUS has an on-board camera and all electronics were manufactured in SU Photonics Lab, under supervision of Prof. Meriç Özcan. Our 3-people engineering team launched NEXUS from Kartal Meteorological Center. The device was attached to a hydrogen filled meteorological balloon, procured from Chinese meteorological equipments manufacturer and it the filling process was supervised by the governmental branch for meteorology. The day of the launch, we were able to get images of earth and stratosphere with a recorded range of 18km altitude, although wind drift was high and our balloon drifted in Şile direction. Afterwards, we were also able to get the apparatus back from a remote village in Şile, studying the flight characteristics and findings.* Music From Brainwaves: Development of a dry EEG-cap, able to record EEG signals from 6 main locations (cortices) of the brain, related to creativity, motion and sight. Afterwards, I used a software to map each channel's signal to a MIDI instrument, converting brain waves into symphonic music. Research opportunities that followed this achievement was a study on human psychology. Researchers might observe whether the musical patterns differ with moods and interpret the results using this novel system. A report was delivered to the faculty, but following this research area was not our area of expertise so the project finished by getting sustainable musical output.
