Current Structural Engineering focus in Aerospace student at University of California, San Diego seeking entry-level positions in structural design and analysis of high-performance structures. I have performed stress and failure analysis, finite element analysis, aerospace repair and manufacturing of composite materials. I have been involved in various projects during my studies at UCSD that helped gain experience with composite materials and their behavior. One project involved and team and myself designing, analyzing and manufacturing a scaled-down set of fiberglass/epoxy wind turbine blades with the best performance index. A competition was also implemented to reach the maximum energy output. MATLAB was used to find the allowables of the laminate, ABD matrix, stresses and strains due to a given force and/or moment, and changes due to thermal effects. A second project involved a team and myself manufacturing, fracturing and repairing fiberglass/epoxy plates with single and stepped lap joints due to fracture. This entire process was analyzed through MATLAB in order to perform Volkerson TSD and Volkerson OG modeling analysis for the adhesive shear strain and stress. Fracture/crack dimensions were also recorded with nondestructive practices, specifically ultrasonic wave sensors. The third project is based on the Archimedes Artemis Tower composite deployable boom infrastructure. A team of 6, including myself, designed a 6 foot lenticular composite boom that can be fully deployed or be stowed away and rolled into a winder. This structure is then used to take to the moon for network communications, exploration, power transfer, and lighting. MATLAB was used for static, dynamic, and buckling analyzes for critical cases low margins of safety. ABAQUS was then used to model linear and nonlinear failure cases along with Tsai-Hill failure criterion. This design is then manufactured and tested under the proposed critical cases.
