- Created company brand under which to make and sell my custom hand-made woodworking products.- Set up shop in the Etsy marketplace with a five star average review.- Designed a web page to showcase a portfolio of my work.

- Established the partnership Floodbat Creative, a game development company, to bring to market the family card game Weather Wars, now being sold on Amazon.- Designed all of the artwork for Weather Wars and its associated products.- Designed company website, www.floodbat.com, as well as facebook pages for both the company and Weather Wars.- Ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the initial print run of Weather Wars.

- One year spent traveling around the world, living in 15 countries on 6 different continents- Maintained a travel blog with 1000+ unique visitors. www.douganddaniele.tumblr.com- Generated all content for posts 2-4 times per week, including text and photographs.

- Progressed from a Research Associate I, to Research Associate II, to Senior Research Associate, to Research Scientist I over a 10 year career as a biologist at Vertex.- Independently designed, executed, and analyzed experiments instrumental to the development of new therapies for pain and other neurological conditions.- Presented key results and conclusions at regular group and department-wide meetings and company conferences.- Research resulted in 12 approved patents and one publication in a peer reviewed journal.- Participated in numerous community outreach programs by partnering with local groups such as the Ocean Discovery Institute and the ScienceBridge program at University of California, San Diego, to improve STEM education and encourage young students to consider a career in the sciences.- Created a “Day in the Life of a Scientist” presentation to illustrate the wide variety of exciting career opportunities in the sciences and provide a picture of what it’s like to work as a scientist.These classroom presentations were featured on the local San Diego news, as well as filmed for an instructional video of “Best Practices for Scientists Visiting Classrooms” by the ScienceBridge program.- Led hands-on educational activities and experiments at an exhibition booth at the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering and the USA Science and Engineering Festival in Washington DC.

- Executed and analyzed experiments designed to investigate the causes of torsion dystonia.- Research resulted in the publication of two papers in peer reviewed journals.

- Designed lesson plans and conducted classroom instruction to five 8th grade science classes of various ability levels, including laboratory demonstrations and standardized test preparation.- Assisted in the coordination of the school science fair, presented to the public.- Designed and executed numerous hands-on classroom experiments for all class ability levels.
