As part of the team of the Digital Humanities Lab, I support Humanities and Social Sciences researchers who would like to make use of web or mobile applications for their research.

I am currently researching the variation of folk songs, and specifically what we can learn about melodic memory from oral transmission of melodies. I performed computational research on symbolic representations of folk song melodies, which has appeared in various peer-reviewed publications. Currently, I am rounding off my dissertation, which I expect to defend by fall this year.

As an associate of the Music Cognition Group at the University of Amsterdam, I taught classes in Cognitive and Computational Musicology at Master leve, supervised Master students, and have organized monthly reading groups on recent music research.

I designed, prepared and taught workshops on arts and technology, such as synthesizer building or interactive dance.

I investigated how the STEIM live sampling software LiSa could be adapted to current operating systems. To this end, I wrote code in C++, C and Objective-C. Moreover, as part of the STEIM Research Group I was involved in discussions, empirical and artistic experiments addressing the question how musical expression can be supported through gesture tracking, intelligent mapping, and tracking of performance history.

Throughout an intensive introduction to research methods, statistics and methodology, I taught literature research, presentation techniques and statistical methods through practice sheets, I advised students on their music psychological experiments and coached them in the analysis of results through statistical software.
