About Robert Hodges

I am an entrepreneur and software engineer with a record of successful execution across a variety of engineering and management roles. I currently run Altinity, which provides software and support for ClickHouse, a popular open source data warehouse. As CEO of Continuent I guided the successful sale of the company to VMware in 2014. Computers have fascinated me for most of my life. I find the interaction between software and the economics of firms particularly intriguing, such as enabling two-sided networks or annuity-based businesses. My technical interests include database technology, cloud computing, and most recently machine learning. My goal at work is to do whatever needs to be done. At heart, though, I am a hands-on engineer. Among many contributions I am proud of developing the first working parallel replication for MySQL. Most of my recent work uses Python.
