I started my career path in Mathematics. In high school, I achieved 100 on my Algebra regents, 90 on both my Geometry and Trigonometry regents. It seemed obvious to enroll in college as a Math major. Math came easy to me. It was logical and it all made sense.I also had a deep appreciation of music. I know there is a connection between math and music. My interest in music led me to the college radio station, where I applied for and received my broadcast license. I decided that I was going to be a disc jockey and changed my major from Math to Communication Arts. However, rejection after refection made me realize that while I had the drive I did not possess the voice to be an on-air-talent. As I listened to the radio and heard the commercials I never grasped the work involved and process of how these commercials got there. Someone has to create them, produce them, and buy the time to run them on the station. I discovered that my failed attempts at being an “on-air” talent turned into successful attempts at being a “behind the scenes” talent. After a series of different but the similar career choices all having to do with forms of advertising and marketing, I look back and I can say I have devoted virtually my entire adult career to advertising and marketing. Whether it is developing or executing marketing plans, determining advertising schedules, contributing to ad campaigns, I have pretty much done it all successfully. A sampling of the diverse industries in which I have designed, developed and implemented successful marketing and advertising campaigns include eyewear, higher education, health care and retail. Whether working independently or as part of a team, the scope of the marketing solutions I have developed spans across myriad industries.
