Bernard Bertram has been active in the real estate business for more than 25 years. Bernard’s early years in the real estate business were focused on the purchasing and management of multi-family buildings in the 5 Boroughs of New York City. Bernard built a portfolio of over 2,500 residential units and sold his entire portfolio to a residentially focused hedge fund when the market conditions were favorable. Sensing similar opportunities in the commercial office sector, Bernard founded Shelbourne in 2012 and has been at the helm of the company since its inception.Bernard focuses his efforts on overseeing the management of the Shelbourne portfolio with a specific view towards cost containment and reduction, use of synergistic advantages to reduce overhead, fine-tuning employment skills to leverage employee coverage throughout the portfolio, and investor relations.Bernard Bertram is very active in many communal charities and philanthropic causes. Most notably, he serves as the Treasurer for Chai Lifeline – an international, not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization that specializes in offering support services to children battling cancer and other chronic illnesses.
