This role is completely different from my previous in the last 20 plus years. It involves looking after and supporting a young man at home who has muscular degenerative condition and consequently unable to move by himself. Personal care such as washing; showering; brushing teeth; moving (including use of hoist); feeding; dressing; administering medication and ventilating form part of the daily routine. Just as important is to maintain a positive working relationship with the client and encourage him to adopt a series of personal interests,concentrating on what he can do as opposed to what is beyond perceived individual physical abilities.

Managing a Pupil Referral Unit for year 10 and 11 students at risk of permanent exclusion. Also responsible for two cold start set up projects within mainstream schools to work with students across key stages 3 and 4 also at risk of exclusion. Prior to being made redundant, I had been tasked with managing all the data relating to student results, progress and finally their destinations.
