I am a chemical engineer from Brazil, having graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in 2020. During my university years, I gained significant experience, particularly in process simulation research. I published a peer-reviewed paper with SAE International and served as a Teaching Assistant for kinetics and reactors sizing. Following graduation, I joined AtkinsRéalis, having already spent a year there as a process engineering intern. At AtkinsRéalis, I contributed to green and brownfield mineral processing projects for clients such as Vale, Anglo American, and CBMM. Daily tasks included process equipment sizing, plant mass and energy balances, PFD and P&ID design, and the preparation of purchasing documentation. Holding meetings with clients and suppliers was also another important aspect of the job. In 2022, I moved to the US for a master's degree at West Virginia University. Currently, my research focuses on model predictive control and system identification techniques, mainly Gaussian process modeling, under the guidance of Dr. Fernando Lima. Concurrently, I work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Fundamentals of Engineering Program at the university.
