The understanding of innate immunity and inflammation builds the core of my scientific interest. I have worked in different fields of immunology throughout my career, including immunology of infectious diseases (i.e., schistosomiasis, Chagas Disease, and Malaria), and on the innate immune mechanisms of non-communicable diseases (i.e., Autoinflammatory diseases, Crystalopathies, Atherosclerosis, Alzheimer, and Cancer). I am passionate about science and Immunology, and I love teaching it to students, or talking about it with the public. I am always seeking new challenges, and interesting topics. More recently, I have developed DataScience skills, learned a programming language, and broaden my research interest to platelets, their interactions with immune cells in inflammation and cancer, and the links between coagulation and immunity. At the Institute of Innate Immunity at the Medical Faculty of the University of Bonn, I managed to establish a highly cooperative and enthusiastic research team, which is contributing to shaping the immunology research landscape in Bonn.
