    Co-Founder And President
Miami Tropics- United States Basketball League 1987 - 1991
Co-founded the professional championship Miami Tropics with Howie Davis (Harlem Wizards) and Lou Haneles (minor league baseball team owner). The Tropics played in the United States Basketball League- "the League of Opportunity." Served as vice-president and president. Also served as general counsel and media spokesman of the club. Negotiated contracts, arena leases, sponsorship agreements. With players such as World B. Free (NBA all star), Mario Elie (NBA) and Anthony Grant (current head coach Dayton Flyers), the Tropics won the 1987 USBL championship and set league attendance records. It is in the Tropics that Siegel learned the art of promotion. The 1991 second place squad featured former NBA players, Lloyd Daniels and "the human victory cigar" 7ft 6 inch Chuck Nevitt. In the USBL, Nancy Lieberman became the first female player to play in a professional league with men. In 1987, the Tropics signed Lynette Richardson, who had played college ball at FIU. In a historic matchup, Richardson and Lieberman played against each other during a game between the Miami Tropics and the Long Island Knights. Ultimately, the Tropics were sold to John Lucas who later became head coach of San Antonio Spurs. All part of the journey.
