I enjoyed (yes really!) a working life in various disciplines of general insurance before retiring from my position as Sales Director of Active Claims Solutions in March 2019.More than 25 years in the insurance company market were followed by the challenge of setting up a Motor Claims Management business from scratch and seeing it through to a final merger with Active. Throughout my career, the Chartered Insurance Institute has been a constant. From taking professional exams in the early years to serving on the National Council, I have been proud to align my career with the principles of integrity and professionalism for which the CII stands. My specialisms of motor legal expenses, credit hire and personal injury have put me in a position where I can now put something back into the insurance profession. I deliver lectures and training sessions to insurance businesses and local Institutes throughout the UK. Subjects include the mechanics of credit hire and the future of personal injury, following the introduction of the Civil Liability Act 2018. Other subjects continue to develop. My involvement with the CII continues as Vice President and Dinner Secretary of the Insurance Institute of Leeds. The Annual Dinner in particular, keeps me very busy and allows me to maintain my relationships with many friends from the insurance market.I regard myself as very fortunate to have a retirement allowing me to combine my professional and personal activities. I have plenty of opportunities to enjoy my various sporting interests and a family which now includes 5 grandchildren. I enjoy walking, am a cricket umpire and a commentator for Leeds Hospital Radio Sport.I warmly welcome contact from LinkedIn members and will be pleased to help wherever I can.
