A background in Geology, followed by almost two decades as a successful publishing professional with wide and deep experience in STM publishing (earth sciences; fundamental life sciences, especially endocrinology and biotechnology; agriculture, soil & plant sciences).At present coordinating the assessment of (research / funding) applications in the field of Earth & Life Sciences at the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). Coordinating the NWO-theme Water and Climate. Also involved in "Topsector Water", ICOS (Integrated Carbon Observation System) Research Infrastructure, ICDP (International Continental Scientific Drilling Program), ECORD (European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling), JPI Climate (Connecting Climate Knowledge for Europe), JPI Water Challenges for a Changing World, and COST Domain ESSEM.Programmes handled include Feedbacks in the Climate System; Joint Scientific Thematic Research Programme (JSTP) - water management in relation to climate change and sea level rise; Integrated research in the NWO Sustainable Earth theme and the national ‘Knowledge for Climate’ programme (all three part of the NWO-theme “Sustainable Earth”), TopoEurope; Cooperation China (NSFC) - Joint Research Projects: Water ways, harbours, estuaries and coastal engineering; Planetary Boundaries Freshwater Cycle; The New Delta; and the Cooperation China (NSFC-NWO-EPSRC) Joint Research Projects-call "Sustainable Deltas".
