DTM Tourism is a tourism development consultancy which specialises in advice in the operations, development & infrastructure opportunities for new & existing tourism businesses, together with recommendations of distribution channels to bring tourism products to market.Unlike traditional tourism marketing consultancies, we offer a ‘whole of business’ approach to build & mentor the capabilities of tourism product, whether it be an individual product or tourism organisation. We aim to provide practical solutions for tourism businesses to navigate the intricacies of the tourism industry and ultimately grow engagement and sales.DTM Tourism is a collaboration between Karen Castiglioni and Bernard Whewell, who each bring 30 years of tourism experience to our clients.

Bernard brings to Tourism Experts over 30 years of experience in tourism both in Australia and internationally.Commencing his career in retail travel, Bernard acquired an opportunity with the Western Australian Tourism Commission in the mid 1980's to review tourism infrastructure and development in the Goldfields and Kimberley regions of Western Australia. His ability to identify business opportunities for tourism operators, including operational development, aviation route development and destination marketing led to greater accessibility to the regions for travel consumers; the legacy of which exists today with the Kimberley being one of the most recognised of Western Australia's tourism destinations.In 1997, recognising that travellers also required an avenue to easily purchase inspiring tourism product in niche areas, Bernard founded Broome & The Kimberley Holidays, an award winning wholesale travel company based in Broome, Western Australia. Over a period of 18 years under Bernard's ownership, Broome & The Kimberley Holidays expanded it's product base to include the Northern Territory, greater Western Australia and Australian Rail & Cruise experiences. Bernard's reputation of providing sound industry knowledge based on extensive experience, has seen him hold board positions on a number of tourism organisations including the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC), Australia's Coral Coast and the Broome Gateway Committee, specifically commissioned to investigate aviation services internationally and domestically for the Kimberley region. Bernard is currently the President of the International Skal Council (ISC) and sites a passion for seeing tourism businesses flourish as a result of his mentorship, as his greatest motivation.
