Bernie has extensive work experience in counselling, psychology and mental health sectors. She sees clients across the lifespan with diverse presenting concerns and is especially passionate about supporting couple clients manage the psychosocial demands of modern life and/or chronic medical conditions. She finds deep fulfilment in supporting her clients to refocus on what are important to them, realign their intentions and actions, and create meaningful life experiences together.Bernie is currently working on 2 research projects in her postgraduate studies in Health Psychology at the University of Queensland. One involves telehealth couples-based interventions for couples living with chronic disease (e.g. cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and respiratory disease). The other has a prevention focus and centres on the use of social marketing and health promotion in reducing sedentary behaviour (sitting) and increasing movement in Australian small business. This project is with BeUpstanding, an evidence-based and world-first workplace health promotion intervention at the School of Public Health, University of Queensland.
