My name is Bernice V. McClain. I am a self- motivated, intelligent, versatile, teachable and sociable person. I believe in motivating people to give their best, to be the best, to produce the best. I believe that each person can learn from the other to enhance or to degrade their character. I am a natural leader with a distinctive presence, the ability to write and present speeches and heart’s desire to serve others. I’ve been fortunate to have worked at the Centers of Disease Control, in Atlanta Georgia where I attained the experience of working with international scientists who formulated global PEPHAR policies. It was indeed a privilege to sit in esteem as these scientific leaders congregated. An even greater thrill was the thought that the Bahamas was represented among them; and, that I as a Bahamian aided in the establishment of compiling CD4 testing policies designed for the remote areas of Africa. Presently, I work as a Manager/ Senior Medical Technologist for the Bahamas Chest Center Laboratory an entity of the Centerville Medical Pavilion (CMP) where Dr. Conville Brown is the C.E.O. Daily I use skills accumulated over 20 years in the field of Medical Technology; and as I teach Phlebotomy to enthusiastic students, I simultaneously improve my skills so as to remain current, effective and efficient. At CMP, it has been my responsibility to perform venipunctures processes (Phlebotomy), blood analyses, report results to the Doctors, ensure that instruments are maintained, update the inventory, write the Procedure Manual and ensure that Quality Assurance is daily performed. The time has come to take the essential step in seeking further development and improvement so as hone my skill set.
