As an urbanist with passion about transit, zoning, energy efficiency and buildings - my whole life has been dedicated to reducing our impact on the earth. Preservation: creator of the heart bomb, TedX talk on Preservation 2.0 , one of the founders of Buffalo’s Young Preservationists and now Executive Director at Preservation Buffalo Niagara. Development: Buffalove was founded in 2012. Buffalove is a neighborhood level development company in Buffalo, NY focused on renovating vacant and/or underutilized properties in Buffalo, NY. We give buildings the TLC needed to bring them back to life! Buffalove has been featured in NYTimes, Huffington Post, Buffalo News and on HGTV's six episode series of American Rehab Buffalo.Zoning: Since 2015, I have served on the City of Buffalo zoning board of appeals. In 2021, I served on the Driehaus Award Committee to chose the best code for Form Based Code Institutre (Congrats South Bend!). I have a B.S. in regional planning and urban analysis from Buffalo State. I also worked as a volunteer on the Buffalo Green Code project from 2012 - 2017 and have assisted in zoning related trainings, events and code writes discussions in many cities and regions. Energy Efficiency: In 2008, I led the charge to do one of the largest energy efficiency upgrades in the City of Buffalo - featuring 16 historic multifamily buildings. The results were noticed - with reduction target awards given four years in a row to the tune of 25 + percent per building. I then went on to consult and do energy efficiency plans and energy audits for four years with Buffalo Energy Inc. across NYS and New Hampshire. Incremental Development : Since 2017, I am a faculty member of the Incremental Development Alliance where we do lectures, workshops and bootcamps on incremental development. I now have my own firm, Neighborhood Evolution to which we do deep dive coaching and ecosystem building for local communities in need of quality small scale development.
