Bernie Altmeier was born in Bonn Germany where he first started teaching sailing and power boating on lakes, rivers, North Sea and Baltic. He moved to the United States in 1991 and is currently a resident of Key Largo. Bernie has over 20 years of private, charter and project management expertise on power and sailing vessels up to 95 feet. Bernie is U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain and has extensive seatime on the Eastern Seaboard, South Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Bahamas, and Caribbean Islands. He has boating, maintenance and customer experience on a variety of private yachts, charter boats, and research vessels. He continues to broaden his skills through education and familiarity working alongside marine contractors to be able to keep a vessel in the best working and show condition. Bernie has a strong focus on safety and proper procedures and currently has an accident free record. His boating and safety skills, familiarity with a broad range of marine services coupled with his knowledge of oceanography and weather conditions allows enjoyable cruises for owners and guests, successful deliveries and productive research charters.
