PROFILE: BERNIE BREENBernie Breen started his career in music over 30 years ago. He spent his first 10 years in fundamental roles in a number of aspects of the industry – touring, production manager, club owner, concert promoter, and booking agent.During this time Bernie has honed his versatile talents and built a solid reputation globally as a business savvy, artist-friendly, and knowledgeable artist manager.Bernie’s experience in developing talent and maintaining careers is vast and unique. Bernie has successfully supported and developed some of the most talented individuals in the country. Working with a range of both established and budding artists including: The Tragically Hip, Matthew Good, Headstones, actor/musician Hugh Dillon, Mappe Of, producer/ Blue Rodeo member Colin Cripps.He has handled the careers of many other talented artists. Among them are multi-platinum selling artists, Tom Cochrane, Big Wreck, Crash Vegas, as well as PGA professional Matt McQuillan, LPGA professional Alena Sharp and punk rockers Not By Choice.Bernie is a Canadian Screen Award and JUNO Award winner; for 15 years he oversaw all day-to-day aspects of The Tragically Hip’s interests including, global Touring, Movie productions, The Bathouse Recording Studios, UP branded cannabis and all Hip brands with Stoney Ridge Estate Winery.He has been a member of CARAS since 1995, a publisher member with SOCAN and CMRRA since 1997, a founding member of MMF Canada, and is formally the chairman of the Board of Directors for the Unison Fund - Canada’s lifeline for the Canadian Music Community.
