I keep track of all current research, and support, advise and monitor researchers. Furthermore, I am involved in setting up future research, including grant writing for new research lines. Last year I acquired a grant of 1 million, together with a team of colleagues, for a large project to improve value-based healthcare for cancer patients, both at our department and in other hospitals within the Netherlands. Currently, I am closely involved in managing and carrying out this project.My aim is to lift the Erasmus MC KNO research to a higher level, both in quality and in quantity. I worked at the department of Viroscience in the group of Ron Fouchier. I devised my own research project and acquired a Rubicon and Veni grant from NWO to finance it. PhD awarded cum laudeThesis: Genome function and organization in relation to the nuclear envelopeI did my PhD in the group of Maarten Fornerod at the department of Gene Regulation. Using a genomics approach, I found that proteins that are part of the nuclear envelope influence genome function and organization. I published my work in Cell and Nature Genetics and presented it at international conferences in Europe and the USA.
