Now in the next stage "retirement", taking a break to figure out what lies next.As Chief Operating Officer of XPS, Jonathan was responsible for the central functions of XPS inc HR, IT, Marketing, Property/Procurement, Risk and Employee Engagement, as well as more general operational matters across the firm. A key aspect was ensuring that XPS faces the market as one firm - operating consistently, effectively and efficiently in a coordinated manner across key business lines including Pensions and Administration. Prior to taking this role in April 2019, Jonathan was Head of Pensions with responsibility for the pensions consultancy business and sat on the plc Board. During 2016-17 he was also responsible for the investment and administration businesses. As well as business leadership, he was also involved with major client relationships and holds Scheme Actuary appointments.Whilst Mercer's UK Chief Actuary, Jonathan managed commercial risks across the firm's Retirement Consulting business as well as leading on all aspects of professionalism and quality for circa 500 qualified and trainee actuaries. Jonathan has provided advice on all aspects of UK pension schemes to employers and trustees, typically for FTSE100 companies or equivalents. He was Scheme Actuary to the Rank Pension Plan during its £700m groundbreaking all risks transfer to Rothesay Life. Jonathan led the UK team which developed Mercer's dynamic derisking investment solution.Jonathan has had significant experience of operational management.
