Hospitality is in my blood. I’ve always been able to engage people and spark up a conversation while being on stage as a career bartender. I started on this path in 1994 and fell in love with being behind the bar and in control of so many different tasks at the same time. I worked my way up from bar back to bartender at a dive bar in Alexandria Virginia called The Laughing Lizard Lounge, and after 7 years, I decided to take a job in DC at The Old Ebbitt Grill. I quickly learned that slinging beers and shots in a dive bar was nothing in comparison to the powerhouse of a restaurant that the Ebbitt is. To say it was an education is an understatement. I worked at Ebbitt until 2018 and went to try my hand in management at a friends restaurant called Station 4 in SW DC. I worked as a manager for 7 months until the owner sold the restaurant. Upon trying to get back to the Ebbitt to resume to bartending, they didn’t have a spot for me so they placed me in a lead bartending position at their sister restaurant, The Hamilton, located just a block away. Just over 2 years later, Covid reeked havoc on the restaurant industry in DC and Virginia and I decided to make the move to Charleston SC. This town is amazing and I’m in search of a restaurant home here.
