Since 2017 I have served as the business area lead for Geospatial Research and Engineering, one of the five business areas of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center. I also serve as the Technical Director for Army programs at the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory since 2018. I have also had a research career studying land-atmosphere interactions to improve the Soldier’s situational awareness of the environmental effects on military sensing, and improved approaches to monitor and forecast snow cover conditions for water resources and Nordic expeditionary operations. I've led special initiatives for Office of Secretary of Defense and the Joint Staff, assessing novel approaches to layered sensing, and approaches to study megacities. I have a dual-major bachelor’s degree in geology and geography, a master’s in geography, and a doctorate in geography, all from the University of California, Santa Barbara. I have also published numerous technical reports and papers and has received many distinguished awards to include the Army’s Research and Development Achievement Award, and The Under Secretary of Defense AL&T Award for Excellence.
