Supervising a team of 6 shift electricians and an electrical technical officer. Role involves planning and scheduling day to day and long term maintenance for the sawmill using SAP, managing statutory electrical requirements and ensuring the teams training matrix is kept current. The sawmill uses mainly Allen Bradley PLC’S and VSD”s and Citect as a SCADA system.

Technical support to Plant Electrical team, maintenance and modification of PLC control, network and scada systems and rationalisation of Bills of Material and spares management. Mentoring of new team members and graduate electrical engineers, assistance with Control and network communications issues and 24/7 on call assistance for all electrical and control/network and scada issues.Current projects aside from day to day duties include:• Replacement and commissioning of PDL VSD units with suitable currently available drives (NHP Santerno )• Assisting in the implementation of an arc flash protection program for H/V and L/V switching operations.• Repair and/or replacement of substation UPS systems• Retrofit and commissioning of Multilin 269+ units for 369 units on conveyor and plant protection systems

Duties include breakdown repairs and maintenance to clay brick setting and dehacking machines as well as the raw clay preparation areas and the gas fired kiln. This involved maintenance and programming to Siemens S5 and S7 plc as well as programming and fault finding on SEW servo positioning drives.

This process uses Reliability Centred Maintenance to optimise maintenance procedures with the view of current best practice and modification of maintenance plan task lists within the SAP environment. Spares optimisation is a critical part of the production process – this is to ensure that reliability and availability is maintained at optimum levels. I facilitated a review and analysis of required onsite spares to ensure required production levels are maintained at an economic level in line with budget restrictions. Through the review of critical spares on site – we found that spares were in less than optimum condition and implemented maintenance regimes to address this.When reviewing maintenance and spares optimisation, this involved liaison and negotiation with the supply department, shop floor and management.

Electrical Supervisor - Plant Processing Area. I completed an Electrical Nominees course in Jan/Feb 2001 and was nominee of Robes electrical Licence. As part of the nominee’s duties I was required to fulfill statutory regulations (AS3000) regarding electrical installations on site – this included inspections of new and existing electrical installations by both Pilbara Iron employees and contractors. The duties also encompassed completing electrical incident/shock investigations and ensuring all external reporting requirements were met – with regards to Mines electrical inspector and Energy safety.My responsibilities as a supervisor and nominee I worked with contractors and employees to ensure that all IronSafe standards were followed and adhered to. This included ensuring safety meetings were facilitated monthly, encouragement to safety reps, participation in monthly safety area audits. Reviewing housekeeping audits with area management to resolve issues arising and ensure satisfactory outcomes. I have participated in review of safe work procedures, conducted annual electrical awareness training for groups other than the electrical maintenance team. Training and mentoring of electricians, apprentices and contractors in the behavioural observation, Take 5’s, JHA’s, hazard and incident reporting processes.During the initial Cape Lambert upgrade by SKM – I was the Company representative for ensuring all dig, HV vicinity access, working at height, confined space and hot work permits as well as isolation procedures were issued and complied with.
