Tentoonstellingsmaker 'Verborgen Mystiek. Schatten Uit Het Verleden'Erfgoednetwerk Emmen Oct 2022 - Sep 2023Emmen, Centrum Beeldende Kunst RensenparkTop pieces from the collection of Museum Janning in Nieuw-Schoonebeek have been brought together this summer at CBK Emmen in the Rensenpark. In the exhibition you will experience the mysticism that emanates from wooden statues and crosses, statues of saints, stained glass, liturgical vestments, monstrances, chalices and tabernacles. Attention is paid to the meaning of liturgical colors in the Christian religion and how colors of altar cloths indicate the time of the liturgical year or certain events. For example, purple during Advent and Palm Sunday, white during wedding services or red during Pentecost.Museum Janning is named after pastor Hein Janning (1914-1980), who was known as a painter and collector of church art. The museum is located in the Roman Catholic presbytery in Nieuw-Schoonebeek. In addition to paintings by Pastor Janning, the presbytery also features relics, gold and silverware, stained glass windows, a collection of coins and wood carvings. A large part of the collection contains works of art that were 'saved' from modernization within the Catholic Church by Hein Janning and Joz van Aerle. -

Writer 'Het Booënboek. Vetweiderij In De Schoonebeeker Marke'Onderzoek Drentse Families En Huizen Jan 2020 - Nov 2021SchoonebeekAlready before 1500 there must have been dozens of booën in the Schoonebeeker marke, the collective wild lands of the farmers from Oud-Schoonebeek. It was a unique form of fattening cattle grazing, which occurred exclusively in Schoonebeek. The booarea consisted of cattle shed, hay barn, stocking meadow 'de belt', hayfield 'maogien' and the surrounding 'heuving'. The boo was inhabited for much of the year by the 'booheer', in fact a herdsman. The boo cattle, mainly consisting of young steers, were bred by the Schoonebeekers themselves or were bought up to be fattened on the boo into slaughter oxen. From May to October, the oxen grazed the greenlands around the boo. In the autumn and winter the oxen were grazed by the booheer on the bogs and stored in the boo at night. Between Christmas and Candlemas, the booheer returned to the Schoonebeek farm. Once fat, the animals were sold and driven to the IJsselsteden. -
Writer 'Schoonebeek 29 Juli 1943. Een Oorlogsdag Met Grote Gevolgen'Onderzoek Drentse Families En Huizen Jan 2020 - Nov 2020SchoonebeekSchoonebeek was startled shortly after noon on 29 July 1943 by shots fired in and near the town hall. A raid on the distribution office and the population register that was planned by the resistance, the Knokploeg De Krim, ended in a fiasco. Instead of taking a large amount of distribution coupons and setting fire to the population register, the resistance shot three officials dead. The victims were NSB mayor Geert Bisschop, NSB social affairs official Roelof Jan Oostindiën and distribution manager Pieter de Boer.Bert J. Finke (1965) has made a reconstruction of what happened early in the morning in the Westersebos and around noon in and near the town hall. He describes extensively the lives of the resistance fighters involved. How did they end up in De Krim from the Groningen countryside? They belonged to the so-called 'tough guys' from the Groningen resistance. Why did they return to Groningen shortly after the fiasco? There the Fighting Team Baflo was formed. Why was Elze Horlings from Klazienaveen a member of this gang? And how were the resistance boys from Schoonebeek involved in a firefight with the Sicherheitsdienst from Groningen on 11 February 1944 in Middelstum in Groningen? The failed raid in Schoonebeek was carried out by the hard line of the resistance, who had many actions to their name in Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe. They carried out the first raid on a distribution office in the Netherlands, in the Frisian Langweer on June 4, 1943. Geert Bisschop was the second NSB mayor who was killed by the resistance in the Netherlands. Schoonebeek's gunner himself narrowly escaped the Germans during the firefight in Middelstum. His resistance story has never been put on paper before. Nor is the story of his resistance comrade Elze Horlings from Klazienaveen. In this book you can read the relationship between Schoonebeek, De Krim, Klazienaveen, Baflo and Middelstum. It is a story about the lives of twenty people. -

Tentoonstellingsmaker 'Schoonebeek194045'Erfgoednetwerk Emmen Feb 2021 - Nov 2021SchoonebeekThe exhibition 'Schoonebeek194045' tells two story lines. The attempts failed dramatically and as a consequence two collaborators were killed, as well as the distribution leader who wanted to help the resistance. The mayor of Schoonebeek, the national-socialist Geert Bisschop, and the fanatic national-socialist Roelof Jan Oostindiën both were shot, as well as Pieter de Boer, the distribution leader. The second part of the exhibition tells about the lives of several pilots who during WW2 died in an aircrash near Schoonebeek.
