Throughout my career I have devoted myself to the development of software systems for the support of traffic management. My aim has always been the same – striving for the best systems, which will help the road operators in the most effective and reliable way to manage the traffic according to their particular criteria and purposes. These aspirations have always remained paramount and what of course has to be ranked foremost is the improvement of the road users’ safety. Last but not least it is important to maintain and improve the mobility of people and goods. And an improved mobility will finally lead to a safer and more environmentally benign mobility.With the first control systems for only a few traffic signs, we at Heusch/Boesefeldt helped shaping the progress of ITS. Over the past 30 years the dynamic infrastructure increased and the control and management grew more sophisticated. As project manager of Heusch/Boesefeldt I participated in the first projects on floating car data in the 1990th, which marked one of the first significant steps on the way to modern fully cooperative center systems using traditional traffic management merged with Car2X technology.Currently we deploy nationwide traffic management systems not only in Germany but also around Europe.
