I'm a client centered consultant who has actually been a lender, underwriter, portfolio manager and workout guy. Of course I can do process maps, gap analyses and robust PowerPoint presentations–but I'm best as a trusted advisor, strategic leader, software architect, start-up banker, regulatory problem solver and turnaround guy (and USA Yoga competitor-5th overall in the Senior's Division 2017).My background, "Part banker, part entrepreneur and part bank examiner", is non-traditional. As a founding partner of Strategic Risk Associates, LLC (SRA), I have built SRA (including a software-as-a-service business) along with my partners, from the ground up. All along the way, I have never forgotten the lessons learned from lending money and collecting it. Our software product ERM Watchtower provides a cloud-based solution for the continuous monitoring of risk and performance metrics-in an easy to understand format, for all key stakeholders. Over the last 10 years, my partners and I have been involved in over 200 M&A transactions–or potential transactions–assisting clients with credit due diligence. Our credit marks have held up very well over time; just as importantly, we have never recommended a client not do a deal that turned into a home run for the eventual buyer. These investments of time and energy laid the groundwork for what is now a thriving consulting practice–with specialties including risk governance, strategic and capital planning, credit risk and stress testing, regulatory compliance, loan review and audit.In a nutshell, my passion for seeing a client succeed is anchored in the rich opportunities I've had in turnaround situations and supporting the launch of new businesses. I'm not the consultant who just wants to deliver the gap analysis. I'm the client advocate who will identify actionable steps–based on real experience–to improve performance and manage risk, adding value for all stakeholders. That's what energizes me each day and is what I love to do.
