A Fellow of the IHA (F.IHA), i am a professionally registered (Pr. Eng) civil engineer (BSc.Eng) and I have 18 years’ experience in the greenfield development and implementation of large dams and small to medium hydropower projects in Africa. I am also the South African representative on the Sub Committee (O) of ICOLD and a member of SANCOLD. I currently head the dam and hydropower service line at Zutari. Key projects worked on: Implementation of the Jiji (32.5MW) and Mullembwe (17MW) Hydropower projects, Burundi. Implementation of the Kruisvallei hydropower project (1.5 MW Lower Kruisvallei and 2.3 MW Middle Krusivallei), South Africa. Owner’s Engineer (OE) for the construction of the 7.8 MW Nyamwamba II Hydropower, Uganda and the Nithi (5.6 MW) in Kenya. Lender's Engineer (IE/LTA) for the implementation of the 5.3 MW Sindila and 5.9 MW Ndugutu Hydropower Projects, Uganda for OPIC.  EPCM implementation of the Ntaruka'A Hydropower Station (2.3 MW), Rwanda. Bankable Feasibility studies of the 9 hydropower projects for several private equity clients throughout Africa totalling more than 110 MW. Technical Feasibility studies of the 5 hydropower projects totalling more than 85 MW in DRC and Burundi. Feasibility study and implementation of Kashimbila Multipurpose project in Nigeria comprising a 36 m high clay core rockfill dam. 40 MW of hydropower, 240 km of D/C 132 kV and 6 new substations connecting the power station to the grid and additional network expansion as well as 2 700 Ha of irrigation. Implementation of Otukpo (22 m high), Kontagora (24 m high) and Karshi (46 m high) dams in Nigeria. Feasibility study and implementation of the 4.4 MW Stortemelk Hydropower Project in South Africa, being the first and only EPCM arrangement under Project Finance constructed under the REIPPP programme. Maguga Regulating Weir & 19 MW Hydropower Station, Swaziland (2004/2006). Lesotho Highlands Water Project: Further Phases - Feasibility of the 165 m CFRD Polihali Dam, Lesotho.  Feasibility study and implementation of Bethlehem Hydro (2.5 x 3.6 MW), South Africa (2007-2010). Raising of North Boundary Dam, South Africa (2010-2011). Several dam studies (rehabilitation, feasibility studies, tender design, etc.) in AlgeriaI am an Approved Professional Person in terms of the South African Dam Safety Regulations and have conducted several dam safety evaluations as well as rehabilitation of small dams in South Africa.Goals: To grow and develop more small to medium hydropower in Africa.
