Bert Schiettecatte is a computer scientist and award-winning software and hardware engineer with over 20 years of industry experience. He is the inventor of AudioCubes, the first commercially available wireless tangible user interface system. Bert has written audio and video processing software for desktop and embedded platforms, designed and engineered hardware, firmware and end user applications for (wireless) human input devices, and has worked on other real-time low-latency projects including proprietary trading software. Bert is one of the founders of Noisetron LLC, through which he provides contract software and hardware engineering to companies, as well as expert witness services to intellectual property litigation attorneys and law firms. Bert previously founded Percussa, a consumer electronics pro-audio brand, for which he designed, engineered and launched several successful products, used by thousands of professional musicians and sound designers around the world. Bert previously worked as a PhD researcher at Leuven Catholic University (KUL) and Brussels Free University (VUB), publishing papers on audio signal processing and human-computer interaction research topics.Bert holds a Master in Computer Science from Brussels Free University (VUB, summa cum laude) and a Master of Arts in Music, Science and Technology from Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA).Bert is a fellow of the Belgian-American Educational Foundation (BAEF), a honorary Fullbright fellow, and received the Qwartz Max Mathews Award for inventing AudioCubes.
