I did my compulsory military service in 1993.I was in the specialized reaction unit on motorbikes stationed at 12 SAI Potchefstroom.In 1994 I did my basic South African Police training at Bishop Lavis Police Collage. Force number 0471626-6.I was appointed to the National Internal Stability (ABS) unit in 1995.I was trained in riot control, SWAT team operations (Special Weapons and Tactics), rural and urban policing. We were a national unit and deployed all over South Africa to volatile and high-risk situations. In 2000 I did the reaction unit selection and course in the SAPS. Now known as the National Intervention Unit. I was trained in basic hostage release and all high-risk operations which include but not limited to house clearance, chopper trooping, hostage release in a foreign country training with the military's special forces (Reccies), special tactics and VIP driving with vehicles, VIP protection ext. After 4 years operational I became an instructor specializing in rural combat and weapons training. I am a qualified instructor and did the train the trainer course. We were a national rapid deployment unit deploying all over South Africa. I am also a trained tracker and did my tracking course in 2002.In 2007 I joined the private sector and did VIP protection and later corporate security for a large international company. My duties were but not limited to all security related matters both to buildings and the directors of the company.In 2010 I moved to Stellenbosch and became the security manager for a horse and wine farm in Jonkershoek. It was more a rural security setup in an urban environment. In 2019 I applied for the post of Security and Risk Manager at the Lanzerac Hotel where I am still working as of today.
