I created and executed a multi-channel communications plan to engage and inspire incoming corps members, current corps members, alumni, donors, and elected officials. I also developed and managed my region’s crisis and high-stakes communications, including messaging related to government affairs, DEI, and the pandemic, in alignment with national priorities. I collaborated with my region’s executive director and leadership team, and managed cross-collaborative efforts of external affairs across team of 50, overseeing all large external interactions. I also leveraged cross-functional teams for social media and content curation.

I developed fundraising goals based on previous fiscal years and current needs within a ~$15M fundraising budget where nearly 70% connected to Individual Giving. I directly managed four campaigns within Individual Giving, and supported the fundraising work with larger donors and funders. I led and coached two direct reports, and I created and managed plans for fundraising events and donor communications that include social media and email blasts. I also collaborated with cross-functional teams to develop strategies that increase, retain, and upgrade donors.

Through fundraising, I helped facilitate as many additional learning experiences as possible for our scholars within my school network. I worked with foundations, state grant makers, and donors to develop new resources that would broaden the experiences of our scholars to prepare them for high school, college, and beyond. I wrote grants, hosted tours, managed our social media, and worked closely with the ARISE Schools board to continually build our base of support.

Greater New Orleans Area

I launched our Teacher Leadership program, including role outlines, recruitment, selection, and summer training. I created and facilitated training sessions for 16 Teacher Leaders each year in leadership development, content areas, and reflection. I also coached two school administrators in their daily leadership decisions, including how to strengthen their communication with and management of teachers. I provided feedback on facilitators' deliverables during school training days, when they facilitated sessions for other teachers.This Teacher Residency program identified and supported 10 Teacher Residents who learned through a gradual-release program while working one-on-one with Mentor Teachers. During the year, Teacher Residents attended a weekly course that I planned through a scope and sequence, and facilitated about behavioral climate and academic climate. I observed Teacher Residents while they taught and met with them one-on-one discuss weekly goals that accelerated their instruction and content knowledge. I worked with our Mentor Teachers on leadership development in communication, active listening, trust, and protocols. I worked closely with our partners for this work: Match Education, The New Teacher Project, the Louisiana Department of Education, and AmeriCorps.

Arise Academy (Upper 9Th Ward, New Orleans, La)

I taught third grade at ARISE Academy, a transformational charter school, in the 9th Ward. I was the third-grade team leader, an active member of the Data Leadership Team, Chair of the Fundraising Committee, and a Teacher Leader for arts integration. I developed unit plans for reading and writing, and I taught these subjects as well as science and social studies.

Greater New Orleans Area

I worked with incoming, new teachers to develop them into effective first-year educators. Using Doug Lemov's Teach Like A Champion strategies, I coached via live modeling and cue cards while my cohort of new teachers taught. I also debriefed, hosted practice sessions, and facilitated professional development for my cohort to ensure their growth and development. Ten of my 11 teachers went on to teach as certified educators.

Greater New Orleans Area

I worked as the liaison between the university and more than 400 community partners, allowing more Tulane University students to work in and help out the New Orleans area. I cultivated and maintained relationships within the university and community to further service-learning investments and activities. I ensured that all community partners and the university agreed on legal and liability terms. I developed and implemented professional development workshops for community partners.

I maintained finances via QuickBooks, and I met with donors to cultivate relationships and make personalized asks. I coordinated fundraisers and marketing events, and I drafted and revised grant proposals as well as press releases, formal letters, and biannual newsletters. I planned and implemented new literacy programs to engage a broader audience in our community, and I managed our programs coordinators. I collaborated with board and committees on milestones and goals, and I coordinated literacy goals with tutors, students, and parents. I hired and completed human resources needs for programs coordinator position.

I collaborated with the steering committee on fundraisers and potential donors, including a concern for 400 attendees that I planned and ran from start to finish.
