I act as trustee with Tranmere Rovers in the Community (TRIC) which delivers a whole range of community engagement programmes and I also support the football club's engagement with the business community in the Liverpool City Region, and support the Club's Ambassador programme. I am also involved with the development of Tranmere Rovers wider engagement in China.

Having founded Chartered ONE during my year as President of the Liverpool Society of Chartered Accountants, it is now fully established as the quarterly newsletter of the Society. This is the only journal that is sent exclusively to the members of the LSCA, and copies can be found at www.charteredone.co.uk.

Acting as President of the oldest Society in the UK for 2011/12 I believe I helped achieved some significant aims including the establishment of our regular newsletter Chartered ONE, the raising of the Society's profile on LinkedIn, finding a new base for the Society at the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and very proudly accepting the Freedom of the City of Liverpool on behalf of the Society.

Sentinel grew to be the leading presence in the composite door market through innovative manufacturing procedures, led by the MD of the company, and gained a strong presence in the social housing market. This led ultimately to a successful sale of the business. I played a very supportive non-executive role, helped secure the financial resources that enabled the business to reach this position, and gave the management support during challenging times.

I assisted the funding and development of this precision injection moulding company which specialised in supplying components to the mobile phone sector. Strong growth on the back of the mobile phone boom resulted in good success and the establishment of a Chinese operation. Sadly, the loss of some fundamental contracts due to global downturn in demand led to the operation being wound-up.

Oversaw integration into publicly quoted Doeflex following private sale. Significant increase in turnover and profitability to over £1m operating profit. Achieved BS5750 (ISO 9000).

Finance Director and shareholder. Fundraising of over £3m to develop business from greensite start to leading business in its field.This led in 1995 to facilitating the sale to Doeflex plc.
