Founder/Owner of Beta Unit, a Los Angeles based contemporary mens label started in 2005. Started Beta Unit with a very small personal investment, 3 dedicated friend/co-owners, and a small collection of 4 hand-screened t-shirt designs. Fortunately for us rapid growth followed as Beta Unit's success evolved into a full collection of menswear. We found our niche where street wear meets contemporary fashion, and discovered there was a big appetite for our unconventional and often experimental designs. Beta Unit became an international brand available at 100+ accounts, including some of the most highly curated retailers in the world like Oak NYC, Blackbird, Karmaloop, Asos, Topman, TNT, Azalea, Fred Segal with distribution in Australia and Asia. SMU/Diffusion labels were shipped in large volume to major retailers like Urban Outfitters and Metropark.The fast paced and immersive experience of founding a startup and independently growing it to a commercial scale has provided me with a very diverse set of skills, and more importantly a fearlessly creative, entrepreneurial DIY approach to solving complex problems inside and outside of the fashion industry. From designing tailored garments, developing wildly experimental denim, technical jackets, custom textiles, multifunctional sweaters, fits, patterns, graphics, developing and managing domestic and overseas production, to creating sales/marketing collateral and managing all aspects of brand operations.The experience gained with my own brand's successes and failures now allows me to also help other brands and agencies with the traditional apparel pain points in their operations. I frequently assist other brands looking to outsource aspects of their development, production management, design, and art direction.
