I have 25 years experience as a public health and emergency preparedness professional. I am currently working as a Unit Manager for the State of Michigan leading a disease surveillance system modernization project. Previously, I was the Manager of the Epidemiology, Planning and Evaluation Unit of Contra Costa County Public Health. Prior to that, I was a public health epidemiologist in Solano County providing program evaluation support to whole person care and chronic disease programs. During the eight years prior to Solano County, I worked as an emergency management consultant. I managed or participated in a wide range of local, state and federal projects. I supported CalOES in the revision of its 18 emergency function annexes, supported Target Capabilities List (TCL) development for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), managed regional healthcare, medical surge, and mass prophylaxis planning in the Bay Area and National Capital Region, and designed and developed numerous exercises.Prior to 2005, I worked as a public health epidemiologist for multiple states, including Virginia, Oklahoma, and Massachusetts. My health department experience includes leading infectious disease outbreak investigations, monitoring emergency room data, evaluating public health program performance and efficacy, analyzing disparities in health outcomes, and developing both county and regional public health and medical emergency response plans.
