I was assigned to work at La Universidad del Norte, which is one of the best universities in Colombia. I was responsible for my own level 2 English class. I had to plan my classes and organise our time well so that all the material was covered during our limited class time. All my students passed their exams.I also had a class of students struggling to pass their international TOEFL exam. I had to help them with tailored activities to suit their needs. As a member of the British Council I had to teach the Colombians about British values. Every month I did a presentation about an aspect of British life. This was usually presented to around 80 students. I was also responsible for English placement oral examinations. I had to interview members of the public to test their English level and then assign them an English class.

I was responsible organising and planning tutorial sessions with the weakest English students. I had to talk through their problems with them and encourage them not to give up.I had to work alongside the French language assistant to coordinate an event that expressed our cultures. Throughout the semesters we both lead our own extracurricular class where the students learnt about our cultures through interactive activities. Then at the end of the semester we worked together with the students to perform what we had learnt. In the first semester the students held a bake sale, of English baked goods, for an organisation called Healing Colombia. We also put on a theatrical performance which incorporated various aspects of French and British culture. In the second semester we chose to do a flash mob. This took a lot of organisation and careful planning as we had to keep the event surprise.
