General build and maintenance within our LIS system, Cerner Millennium. This requires a vast knowledge of our company, the various applications that we utilize, and of HL7. My responsibilities are quite varied, but my main area of responsibility is analytics and reporting. There is a continual need for reports, from both internal sources and from clients, for clinical order and result information, and also for statistical information. I use Discern Analytics 2.0, through Cerner Millennium, to create the vast majority of reports. I also have familiarity with CCL, both as stand alone programs and for use as a query for reports within DA2. I am able to modify existing CCLs and create new CCLs from them. I am in the process of learning how to write my own CCLs and am excited about this learning opportunity. I have also recently learned how to use Crystal Reports to develop a number of reports that cannot be done through DA2 or CCL because the database is outside of Cerner. I have taken SQL classes to learn this skill, but have not yet had the opportunity to gain much experience in using it due to the other reporting tools covering what I do in my job currently. I am hopeful that I will soon be able to gain more experience and am excited about that prospect. I am also currently taking a class for Tableau and hope to soon take one for PowerBI. There is so much to learn in the area of analytics and reporting, and I am looking forward to how much more I have yet to learn. Plus there will also be the opportunity for additional learning as you can never have too much knowledge in the industry, especially as new tools and technology are developed.
