The Associate Vice President for Advancement and Campaign Operations participates in campaign and strategic planning as well as resource development and operations management for the Advancement Division at San José State University in support of fundraising, alumni engagement, marketing, and special event initiatives. Directly manages the Development Research and Prospect Management, Advancement Services, Stewardship, and Information Technology teams. In this capacity, this position works with University leadership in the planning and execution of external relations and campaign activities in support of San José State initiatives and priorities. As part of the Campaign Leadership Team, the Associate Vice President participates in setting the direction of the university’s campaigns and campaign strategic plans. Additionally, the Associate Vice President will finalize and manage campaign reporting functions and rules for campaign gift accounting.

The AVP is responsible for all aspects of the major gifts program, including outright and deferred individual gifts as well as the planning and successful implementation of San Jose State's comprehensive campaigns. In this capacity, the AVP works with the SJSU President, Vice President for University Advancement, Tower Foundation Board of Directors, Deans, academic leaders, Athletics, volunteers and development staff to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major individual donor prospects in support of San Jose State initiatives and priorities.As Executive Director of the Campaign, the AVP is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the university's major gifts and comprehensive programs and will develop the campaign strategy. Key member of University Advancement leadership team, oversee all Development Operations. Responsible for the management, strategic planning and execution of operational goals for development and university fundraising campaigns. Participate as key senior level advisor to the Vice President.

As first director hired, built research department, including development of policies and procedures for prospect and moves management, contact reports and reporting. Also created research levels to meet various needs and created templates for each. – Additional duties assigned including liaison between Development and Advancement Operations to ensure smooth functioning between departments. Participated as key member of database conversion team in development of business processes related to prospect management and gift counting.

Responsible for securing foundation grants to support station operations and projects. Wrote successful proposals to finance distance learning courses, and enable the purchase of digital broadcast equipment.

Demonstrated Advancement software application to prospective PeopleSoft customers.

Responsible for research of donors and prospective donors using on-line and bound reference materials. Managed staff of five, comprised of full-time professional and part-time student personnel.
