In my role, this includes budget and operations oversight, serving as a subject matter expert, and advising on methods for improving or enhancing the member experience for in-person, online, or blended event environments. Scientific Sessions is the leading cardiovascular meeting for basic, translational, clinical and population science, in the United States, with more 18,000 cardiovascular experts from more than 105 countries. Programming is designed to improve patient care by communicating the most timely and significant advances in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease from many different perspectives. Sessions includes five days of comprehensive, unparalleled education through more than 6,000 presentations, with 2,000 invited faculty, and 4,000 abstract presentations; all from the world’s leaders in cardiovascular disease. In my role, I manage, plan, and direct preparations for the annual Scientific Sessions program content with volunteers, team, and vendors. Oversees all program management processes for Scientific Sessions - which include 9,000-10,000 abstracts (submission, review, and session building), the invited program of 1,500 speakers (submission, session building, invitations), Late-Breaking Clinical Trial submission and selection, and Late-Breaking Basic Science submissions and selection as well as other programs, such as case theaters, maintenance of certification learning sessions, etc. I also develop the final printed and electronic programs and am responsible for abstract publication in one of our journals. In addition, I am responsible for the Emerging Science Series - a webinar filmed in Dallas that showcases the latest peer-reviewed science with robust discussion.

In my role, I accomplished the following:- Managed the abstract submission, peer review, selection and notification process as well as state of the art lectures and awards.- Developed and distributed all printed and electronic materials (Call for Abstracts, Preliminary and Final Programs, Exhibit Prospectuses, and Save the Date Cards). - Managed the publication of conference proceedings and/or abstracts in scientific journals, the web, and monographs.- Coordinated advance and on-site meeting logistics including the following: registration, hotel specification sheets, audio-visual requirements, food and beverage, signage, exhibits, and on-site meeting room arrangements.- Designed and developed marketing plans.- Managed fund raising efforts between volunteers, industry partners, and AHA Corporate Relations within ACCME guidelines.- Managed and maintained conference budgets.
