responsible for directing all telephone inquiries to the appropriate area or person while maintaining strict confidentiality for all patient information, as well as making all announcements, such as drills and/or disasters, paging of authorized personnel and relaying of messages. Gives routine, non-interpretive information on request and keeps up to date on organizational information in order to assist callers. Work requires attaining and maintaining knowledge of facility procedures and becoming familiar with facility layout. This individual represents MedWest in a professional, positive manner and is often first point of contact for our customers.Responsibilities include the monitoring of direct emergency alarms and notification of responsible parties when required. Operates a variety of communication equipment to include radio consoles, telephones and computer systems. The Telecommunications Operator receives and delivers messages in a complete and concise manner and performs a full range of communication duties in a facility that operates 24/7. Maintains accurate, up-to-date logs and files and prepares reports as required. Performs various other clerical duties as assigned.The duties described herein are minimum standards and may be modified to meet the changing needs of the patient and MedWest Health System at any time.
