About Beth Gleason
In high school, I was given a tour of a chemical plant by my uncle and I was hooked. I got my degree in chemical engineering and couldn't wait to see what was in store for me.I entered the workforce at Dart Container and began a career supporting the processes for making a foam cup. I spent 14 years as a chemical engineer and succeeded in designing and implementing several chemical processes. I learned valuable skills such as project management, communication, team collaboration and time management.Half way through my career, I noticed a very natural ability to lead my peers during group efforts. I gained their trust and built good working relationships. My pivot to management started as a Supervisor of my former peers. The transition was smooth and I realized I was on the path that suited me best. I enjoyed working with employees to provide guidance, problem solving and helping them advance professionally.The last 14 years of my career have been in a leadership role. I’ve worked my way from Supervisor to Manager to Director. I’ve managed Managers, Engineers, Chemists, Technicians and Co-op Students. I excel at Organizational Management and Interpersonal Skills. Some examples of my accomplishments include:-Achieved $12M in raw material savings in 2.5 years by collaborating with manufacturing, engineering and procurement to implement a streamlined material qualification process. Shortened the process from 12 months to 3 months. I set priorities and milestones and tracked the work of the team to ensure on-time delivery.-Collaborated with the lab Manager and Manufacturing to develop a brand new product. I organized a plan to develop the formula and process in the lab and pilot plant, which successfully scaled up to production.-I helped implement several business process changes throughout my department. I provided resources and training and overall helped employees to see how the changes help to achieve company goals.-Oversaw the conversion of 3 plants to a new chemical blowing agent, saving several million dollars by monitoring work output, setting milestones, resolving conflict between engineering and manufacturing and communicating to key stakeholders.I am passionate about being an effective manager.
