Championing the arts as a vehicle for change in the Corrections environment. Advocating for connection and humane treatment of prisoners, Whanau and victims of crime through, " out of the box" creative interventions. Delivering award winning arts and living skills based programmes in a Corrections facility is challenging and rewarding. I thrive on working in a high pressure environment and stirring things up with a disruptive and innovative approach. The arts programme I have developed supports cultural inclusion and diversity. Supporting tauira to self direct and create their own pathways into the community through creative encounters and interventions are key to the success of my programmes. I lead a team of facilitators and have established healthy sustainable relationships with community stakeholders. I also facilitate professional development workshops and hui for Corrections Staff, Educators and Arts professionals. Developing positive relationships with Prisoners Whanau through Exhibition and Performance opportunities inside and outside the Corrections Facility has been rewarding with excellent outcomes for many. In 2018 Arts Access Aotearoa awarded me The Arts Access Accolade and the Maui Tikitiki a Taranga Award for Leadership in the Arts in Corrections.
