Work experience coordinator and transition teacher. I have a caseload of upperclassman, those near exiting high school. I assist with work experience placement. I have placed students in on campus jobs, community jobs, volunteer and paid employment. I also assist students in getting an Indy Go Open Door bus pass and train students in utilizing public transportation. In addition, I teach a course on pre-employment and job readiness skills. Instructional topics include, but are not limited to, personal information, strength and weakness assessments, interest inventories, completing applications and resumes, interviewing, transitioning to community from high school, soft and hard skills, social skills, advocating, self determination and effective communication.

Starting the 2016-17 school year I have had the privilege to implement and operate North Central's transition and work experience program for young adults in special education. Classes taught*Language Arts- this course was for students with approximately K-3 grade reading, writing skills. Writing journals, reading, comprehension and grammar drills were a part of this class.*Life Skills- this course was mainly for non-reader and non-writers. Calendar and weather activities were daily lessons. This class discussed information related to daily living skills and trained appropriate social skills for a variety of situations.Collaboration with General Education*Created modified assignments, tests, and quizzes for an entire Health course that could be implemented alongside the regular curriculum.*Created modified assignments, tests and labs for the majority of Nutrition and Advanced Nutrition general education curriculum.Classroom Duties*Organizing student, instructional assistant, and peer helper schedules, implementing support for students in all school environments and transportation.*Maintaining files and IEPs.*Communicating with families and build positive relationships.*Monitoring behavior and putting behavior plans in place.*Making instructional material, setting up student’s switches and AAC/communication devices.*Collaborate with teachers, SLP, OT, PT, district Autism Consultant, school deans and other adult staff on behalf of students.*Developed in-school job tasks.*Daily care of students including hygiene, positioning/physical therapies and tube-feeding.*Collaboration with outside agencies such as behavior consultants, Easter Seals Crossroads, Noble of Indiana, Open Door, Vocational Rehabilitation, music therapist, etc.*Worked with many facets of student Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.*Data collection and analysis
