I was born to pay it forward.Born the middle child of three to a single mother, I have a lot to be thankful for. Living in poverty taught me a level of grit and determination I could not have learned any other way. I experienced generosity from people who believed in me and showed me how to set high standers for myself. They encouraged me and invested time in my potential. From my own experience of adversity, I have become a champion of the “underdog” and realized my purpose to pay it forward. I am passionate about helping people overcome hardships. Whether helping someone with a simple task or walking them through a life-changing decision, I can always be counted on for guidance. I am in my element when I can utilize my strategic problem solving and critical thinking abilities. Through years of experience in the social service field and education in social science, I have honed my skills and fed my passion to help others succeed. From serving as a customer service representative to being an assistant director, there is no job too big or small that my skill set can’t be used to generate successful outcomes.My passion for helping others overflows into my personal time. I volunteer as a mentor for a single mother pursuing her dream of higher education. I also find ways to utilize my helping skills wherever I see a need. I have co-founded the Transfer Outreach Program to assist transfer students in adjusting to University life. I am passionate about helping the people I work with as well and have founded a staff support program that is focused on addressing the emotional wellness of employees. Having been born into adversity makes me a great candidate for almost any job position. My past difficulties fuel my passion for helping others realize their dreams just as many influential people did for me. Being born to pay it forward is an honor and a calling that I take to heart and hope to exemplify in my career performance every day.
