Design Technician
I jumped at the opportunity to start a new role at Stryker in the Additive Manufacturing department. Here, I was still in a customer-focused environment managing orders for the Blueprint project and also honing my technical skills working with CAD software such as Materialise Magics and Siemens NX.
Information Technology Help Desk Support
Although I loved my time working in Chamrousse, it was time for me to look for a more stable position working full-time. I joined Stryker as a member of the IT department, offering in-house level 1 and 2 IT support to our users. My main responsibilities included answering calls and emails in French and English as well as assisting users on site. IT was a challenge at first as I previously had little experience in IT but I really enjoyed learning new skills and problem solving.
Barmaid/Waitress
For the summer season in Chamrousse I chose to work at Le Bachat restaurant as a barmaid and waitress as La Pierre Chaude only opens for the winter. Here, I really enjoyed the family-orientated aspect of the restaurant which was part of a holiday village. Getting to know regular customers and adapting to their needs to ensure that their stay was perfect was a really gratifying experience.
Waitress
After my time in Barcelona I moved back to the ski resort, Chamrousse, where my partner was living. My previous employers at the Pierre Chaude restaurant immediately offered me a position working as a waitress for the winter season.
Team Leader
My progression within CPM has continued and I have been able to reach my goal of Team Leader after a year of working within the company. In this position, I am responsible for managing the performance of my team - focussing on metrics such as NPS, productivity and QA by delivering frequent coaching sessions.
Mentor For Customer Experience
No longer answering calls, as a Mentor I offered guidance and advice to agents on the floor regarding difficult cases as well as losses. As part of the role, I was required to pick up and adapt to new workflows and processes within the company as well as present a friendly, motivating attitude. The new position also included Coaching training, giving me the tools I needed to assist agents in reaching their full potential.
Customer Experience Specialist
When arriving in Barcelona in May 2017, I chose to work in a position which would hone my soft and problem-solving skills. Here, I assist users of an international online booking platform over the phone with any issues they may encounter during their stays. This includes rebooking guests in new accommodation after last-minute cancellations and mediating between users for possible refunds. Waitress
In January 2017 I relocated to the ski resort, Chamrousse, as my partner had accepted a job offer in the area. In order to make the most of my languages and excellent communication skills, I chose to work in a client serving environment.
Trainee Translator
At Altica Traductions SAS I was tasked with technical, advertising and literary translation from French to English and from English to French. I also proofread translated texts in English. Working to tight deadlines, my role included liaising with clients to ensure that the finished product met their specific requirements.
Receptionist
My position as receptionist consolidated a lot of the skills I had learnt in my previous job roles. My responsibilities included greeting guests and responding to calls and emails in French, English and Spanish. I provided quotes for individual and group reservations and managed invoicing.
Receptionist
My time working as a receptionist in Residhotel, although somewhat short, helped me to further develop my customer service skills and greatly improved my written French. During this role I checked guests in and out, responded to telephone calls and emails and handled company accounts.
Bartender
Working in a busy bar in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne whilst finishing my studies at university was challenging at times, but by managing my time correctly I learnt to find a happy medium. Here I worked quickly and efficiently as part of a team making and serving cocktails to ensure that customer waiting times were kept to a minimum.
Bartender
At Hostal Kokopelli I was often required to manage the busy hostel bar alone, which taught me to use my initiative and react calmly to a high-pressure environment. I learnt my role quickly and my Spanish improved greatly as I adjusted once again to living in a different country, working with different people.
Receptionist
My language skills continued to flourish whilst working in this youth hostel in Chile. Although my official title was receptionist, I adopted other roles within the hostel as required; cleaning rooms and community areas as well as offering tourist information to guests.
Receptionist, Bartender, Waitress
Working in a multilingual environment, I responded to phone calls and emails in French, English and Spanish. As a native English speaker and the only Spanish speaker in the hostel, I was often called upon to translate any signs or posters into both English and Spanish from French.
