A product of North Carolina's public schools, I spent the first part of my career teaching in public schools and providing support other teachers in public schools. I taught middle school students mathematics and science for the twenty school years. In addition to classroom teaching, I worked with Wake County Public Schools' Department of Academics/Middle School Math Programs for ten years to develop courses and support materials (including assessments, parent support materials, support document for teachers, and classroom activities) to support students, teachers, and parents across the county. I currently work for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as the State's mathematics and science test measurement specialist. In this role, I coordinate the development of State-produced assessments for mathematics, grades 6 through 12, and science, grades 8 through 12, as well as manage the online assessment delivery development, implementation, and reporting.
