City Of Dallas - Street Services Dept. & Public Works/Transportation Dept.

Assistant Director over Transportation Operations (140 employees and $9M operating budget). Directed the design, operation and maintenance of traffic signals, signs, and pavement markings. Responsible for $18M budget to maintain street lights. Responsibilities also included managing 3,000+ traffic studies per year requested by citizens/councilmembers/city-managers related to safety, traffic flow, neighborhood traffic calming, way-finding signage, special event management, and school safety.

Managed the operation of a centralized computer-control system that monitored and controlled 1300+ traffic signals. Managed daily operation and maintenance of the Traffic Management Center (included staff, central computer, communication links, dynamic message signs and roadside cameras). Also managed installation of signal timing improvements citywide, traffic-signal preemption for DART light-rail system and operation of traffic flow for special events (i.e. Fair Park Music Hall, Cotton Bowl game, Texas-OU game, State Fair, parades, and sports complexes).
