Current• Receiving complaint forms from concerned individuals (parents, coaches, officials) who are involved in minor hockey province wide. Overseeing these investigations through until all parties are satisfied with the result.• Leader in developing the Hockey Nova Scotia Concussion and Social Media PoliciesAdvisor in Energy Drink Education Campaign along with Doctors of Nova Scotia• Maintaining and updating information on the Hockey Canada Registry (a system developed by Hockey Canada to assist volunteers and branch staff in the ability to track players, suspensions, Hockey University, team statistics and specific member demographics).• Key person responsible for overseeing compliance by all coaches, volunteers and parents for the Respect in Sport and Respect in Sport Parent Program (www.respectinsport.com).• Supporting and educating Minor Hockey Association volunteers, executive and members on the Hockey Canada Registry on a continuous basis.• Entry of Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Checks required by all volunteers province wide (6000-8000 per season). Ensuring that all aspects of these checks are completed and passed.• Contacting those individuals whose Criminal Record Check is returned with a record or charge and working to solve this with the help of legal counsel (with the utmost confidentiality).• Ensuring all components and qualifications which fall under the Risk Management umbrella are met.• Main point of contact for Hockey University (an online education resource for hockey courses developed by Hockey Canada). All coaching courses are registered and completed through this resource. • Coordinating all officiating and Hockey Canada Safety clinics each season including spring and summer camps. Managing registration for these clinics, ensuring all clinics receive proper supplies on behalf of Hockey Canada, entry of all registrants for these clinics (approximately 1000-1200 per season).
