Beth Rose, MPA, is the Co-Founder and Board Treasurer of the Alaska Eating Disorders Alliance (AKEDA), a behavioral health 501c3 non-profit (www.akeatingdisordersalliance.org). Beth sought to form this nonprofit after seeing family and friends struggle with this life-threatening illness without sufficient support in Alaska. Because eating disorders have the second highest mortality rate of any mental illness after opioid addiction, she knew this nonprofit would save lives.In partnership with Co-Founder Jenny Loudon, AKEDA offers a monthly Family/Friends support group, a weekly adult support group, and a provider consultation group. The organization provides educational programming on eating disorders for medical and mental health providers, promotes body confidence and eating disorder prevention, engages in advocacy on the state and national level, and promotes resources and recovery through the website and social media.
