From 2006 to 2017, Beth Shook Casey taught developmental students in the areas of reading and English. A background in teaching lower level high school students equipped her with the ability to engage adult learners at the community college setting. This engagement fostered personal ownership of the curriculum and led to success for this instructor and her adult learners.-Implemented the North Carolina Community College System's re-designed Developmental Reading and English (DRE 098) level one year before state requirement -Instructor for DRE 098, ACA 118, and ACA 122 -Academic Advisor to Associate of Arts, Associate of Sciences, and Associate of General Education Students of BCCC -Served as secretary of BCCC's Instructional Calendar and Registration Committee (2016/17).
