From the very beginning of my career as a physiotherapist, I've loved hand therapy. This is such a unique area of practice. I love that physios and OTs can bring different ways of thinking and great skills to hand therapy for the benefit of each other and our clients. My journey in hand therapy started when I was a teenager. Little did I know then that reading medical biographies would lead me into this exquisite area of practice.My first hand therapy position was at Sydney Hospital Hand Unit, working alongside Prof Bruce Conolly, Dr Ian Isaacs, Dr Tim Herbert, Naomi White, Rosemary Prosser and Wilma Walsh. Such a rich and inspiring group of professionals who moulded my early career. Since the mid 80s I've had the privilege of working in different states and territories of Australia, ending up in Darwin, NT 20 years ago where I started Territory Hands. It's here I've launched into online training as well as the continuing mentoring of the young therapists who've come through my practice.I am incredibly grateful for the giants in my life (past and present) who inspire me. My career in hands has been incredibly rich so far and now I get to nurture others. I have an ongoing passion for training, encouraging therapists and seeing them grow in their confidence and skill. I also see this as a way of giving back to the world of hand therapy from which I've learned so much.
